Tackle organization

So do you all have separate tackle boxes for the species you’re after or salt/freshwater? Do you have a huge tackle organization system that you just load up a smaller daily trip bag from? Just looking for ideas to optimize my trips. Right now I just have a huge box with everything. Looking to get a smaller sling bag with a box or two to load with what I plan to use for the day.

I'm a Painting contractor by trade and like with that I must be organized and everything separated to the best of my ability and when I go after specific fish I want to know what's in each box and consolidate as much as possible

I have trays set aside for river fishing. My lake tackle bag has a much larger selection of lures and jigs as well has a good selection of hooks and floats.

I have a small box for Trout that is stocked in our local streams. I have a small one for Shad, not a long run. I have my main large tackle box for my 14' lake boat. I have a small one for Steelhead fishing. Make my fishing preparation easier depending on the time of year and what's running.

I carry a knapsack we all carry to much stuff if I'm hiking to a secluded place Ill bring a small day pack with a couple of baits from different category as top water, rubberbaits, cranks you get the picture once I'm there I'll try everything I brought that way the next time I go I can eliminate some and bring different ones until I make like a lure bag made for that pond, lake, etc sort of a smaller version of how the tournament do their thing. That way I don't have to lug a tackle shop of baits with me when I go hunting FISH

I have 3 sets of boxes (4 per set). One freshwater, one saltwater lagoon/inshore and one for surf. I swap them based on what I am doing for that day. Carry them in a fishing backpack. Many multipurpose items (Gulp swimbaits, pliers, scale/measurer, etc. stay in bag all the time. This is the bag I use and I highly recommend

Fits 4 plano or similar 3600 boxes in main lower compartment and a ton of other stuff is all the rest of the pockets including the large main top compartment

I prefer smaller tackle gear, I have all my stuff separated by salt/freshwater. I try to keep them species specific but some of the ones i have are for a specific body of water at a specific time of year.(especially trout). why carry 10 pounds of stuff around when you're only going to use maybe 10 ounces!

I have boxes labeled live tackle, bobbers, line, jerk bait, crank bait, etc.

One thing I do for fun is when I remove a lure I cut the line off clean if I don’t catch anything and leave a knot and line on the lure if I do. Little longer for a bigger fish or lots of strikes. Just a brain helper, but it goes to that confidence in what I am casting.

Thanks. It’s fun to pull something out you haven’t used with an old knot on it.

I use the Plano 3700 series boxes
Each box contains specific lures
Like boxes for
Megabass jerkbaits
Pointer jerkbaits
Other jerkbaits
Deep crank
Mid range crank
Neko rig
Etc etc

Soft plastics stay in original packages and organized by type in gallon freezer bags . These all go in Rubbermaid totes with labels of contents

Hooks go in tackle logic bags sorted by style and size

I then organize by species in different compartments in the boat . Walleye stuff goes in this compartment , crappie stuff in another. Etc

For musky I have what I call the “ Mothership”. Big stack of Plano boxes
When I plan a musky trip , I’ll pull everything I think I’ll need and put em in a big vertical tackle box that I take on the boat.

I take pride in knowing exactly where to find something I’m looking for.
