Granted it took getting to the retirement years to get to this mode and now a whole new outlook on life is upon my thoughts.
My suggestion to you all in the working world, “ Don’t wait for Retirement “ Do it Now.
My wife just does not understand this attitude. I've been trying to get her to retire for several years, but she's afraid she'll be bored. I, on the other hand do t have enough hours in my day.

I would tell her there will be boring days but it beats that 9 to 5 any day. Not dealing with traffic when you have to is a plus.
Retirement is kind of like fishing in my eyes. Not having to do anything was the goal in 50+ years of working it is knowing what to do with nothing is the answer.
Be active or put the feet up, nice to have a choice.
I was forcibly retired from the music business since Feb. 2020 thanks to COVID. Don't miss all the driving to NYC, CT & PA but DO miss playing those concerts and shows!

retired means work just changed Susan took up substitute teaching so she doesn't have to stay home
ABSOLUTELY. When i retired a guy at work said i should get a PT job so i wouldn't get bored. Since i started working at the age of 12 when i wasn't in school I'd had enough work. With grandkids n family plus a house i haven't been bored at all. Now n then i just get lazy LOL

Just like you need to plan for your financial needs in retirement you need to plan for your social needs. Retirement takes some adjustment after getting up and going to work every day. So a person needs to develop the skills to do the things they enjoy whether it is fishing, hunting, golf, hiking, biking, sewing to really enjoy those activities.
Remember everyday is Saturday except Sunday, go to church to worship the creator after enjoying his creation.

french horn is primary. Joined Union when I was 17 to play with my teacher in the Hartford Symphony. Also have an early music group that plays recorders, lute and various other stuff. One girl actually plays a hurdy-gurdy!

If you REALLY want her to change
her attitude on retirement, then you should try and get HER hooked on fishing !
