Had a great trip from snowy Kansas to sunny gulf. Too windy and rough for the kayak on the bay but caught a variety of fish off the pier at the house we rented on Biloxy Bay. Just a beginner at this salt water fishing, but having a ball learning something new every outing. Also caught seven sting rays. All fish caught on seven foot medium spinning rods.

Nice catch. We were in the Port Aransas - Port Lavaca area in March. A little too cool and windy for me and the kayak too. I'm originally from Manhattan, would like to get back there to do some crappie fishing.

How close to Lawrence do you live, Ofg? Have you fished Perry or Clinton S.P.’s ?

I live north of Tonganoxie. I fish Clinton regularly. Perry occasionaly. Boat is ready and waiting for this wind to lay down. Wife bought me a new Ultera last year and can't wait to give it a try.

Nice going Old fissherguy, That first drum you show is some good eating. Some folks on here slice up those skates but i'll pass on them.

Hope tomorrow is just as good for you.

It looks like it’s gonna be windy at least through tomorrow with storms later Tuesday. Congrats on the Ultera....

Good Mornin', Ofg, Nice fish, thanks for sharing. That Sheepshead will be good eating, as well as the Red. But, the Black and the Ray will be tossed back. Did you stay in a house or a condo, it looks like the picture was taken off of the balcony of a condo.

We usually rent houses. It gives us more access to the beach and water and a place to park the boat trailer. This house had a great fishing pier/boat dock but the sea wall made it impossible to launch my big fishing kayaks from the yard/beach.

The whole VRBO concept is amazing for us. We have stayed in houses all over the country and have not had a bad experience yet. Retirement is wonderful!

I love VRBO for our annual Minnesota fishing trips. Been using it for about 10 years. Haven't had a bad experience yet!

We started going to the Gulf Area in 2009 and our only bad experience was when we rented direct from the owner in 2020 in Port Isabel, TX. The pictures were not accurate, the unit was in need of many repairs, that were not taken care of. The place was filled with cockroaches. Need I say more. We got all of this for only $1500.00 /month. The best place was also from the owners through the condo manager in Gulf Shores, AL. It was the Sanibel Condo, with a 28' full glass balcony, on the 16th floor, overlooking the Gulf for $1350.00/month. I walked to see the manager about how long the waiting list was, and his mouth dropped open and said, "Your Coach Simon", "And you are?", was my reply. I'm Kelly McCabe from Harmony. Caledonia and Harmony are in the same Wrestling Conference. We were in the next year! I guess I would say; that renting from the owner is a cheaper way to go, but be careful, and look at the place the year before is at all possible. The good deals go first.
