Hey all was going to pose a question. Ive got 2 weeks of vacation coming up on the above dates. Where in the US would you go for either trophy largemouth or smallmouth. I know I've probably missed pre-spawn, maybe even spawn in most places that house these fish but was just wondering what your thoughts were. I don't get to get away from the house much so this is my shot to let loose some. Thanks in advance

Definitely not Utah. We have bass but not the biggies.

Starting with largemouths - Florida/
Texas/Arizona/California, with
several good lakes in each state !
All big LMs in these states are
either Florida-strain bass or descended from them !
Smallmouths - Not an expert, but my first choice would be Pickwick Lake
(Tenn./'Bama'/Miss.), closely
followed by several other nearby
lakes in Tenn. ! Some northern lakes are also producers of big 'smallies', like Lake Champlain (N.Y./Vt.), Lake Erie (off the Detroit River/Mi.), Lake
St.Clair (Mi.) and Lake Mille Lacs
(Minn.) !
Hopefully, some of these suggestions will work for you ! Good luck on your fishing trip and tight lines !

Caught quite a few big bass in So. Cal lakes at that time of year. Depends on what you mean by big. Where do you live?
Farm ponds. Throughout the southern U.S. please get permission first.

Welcome aboard SoreThumb. If you wouldn’t mind going back and updating your profile to let us all know where you are from that would be great. City and state helps us to reply to you especially your local neighbors. Enjoy.
Thanks for the welcome.
I fish Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, Kansas and some in Nebraska so, I’m not sure what will help you. Southern mid-west seems fitting. Thanks again for your welcome.
Lake st Clair for smallies.
Chance for a monster is real high
I catch a 5 almost every trip
Average is probably 3.5
Tons of 4 pounders.
Last trip , be and brother got 63 day one
24 day 2 and 40 day 3.
Smallest was 2 pounds big was 5-2 and probably 25 over 4-12.
Just an outstanding smallmouth fishery
Your time frame puts you right in prespawn / start of spawn
Largemouth also outstanding as is huge musky.
Just south the walleye run on detroit river will still be hot.
I’m going May 22
That sounds like an awesome lake to fish
