Fly fishing: Saltwater lines

Hi, taking a beach trip this summer and purchasing a 8wt outfit to fish with but want to upgrade the line.

I will be mainly fishing the surf, but possibly some inlets and flats since my uncle is bringing his boat. I'm looking at the Scientific Anglers Sonar Saltwater IM fly line, recommended to me for surf fishing. Do y'all agree? Also are there some cheaper options that will still perform well?

All fly lines cost an arm and a leg. As soon as the word fly fishing appears, the price skyrockets. I use alot of vintage lines which can be found on eBay and other sites. You can also check thrift stores and resale sites.

Don’t skimp on your line, it’s not worth it.
Check out Sunray. Relatively inexpensive but the small diameter really helps me cast better. (I don’t cast very well tho)

For the surf I recommend the “Monic” intermediate line and not that expensive compared to the more popular brand names.
In fact, all Monic lines are great and about $20.00 - &30.00 cheaper than the more popular brands.
