I just got back into fishing again (was never really hardcore into it anyways so im still new to it). What are you guys fishing in muddy waters? Im down in georgia fishing Lake Sinclair, Jackson, and High Falls.

So far ive been throwing out green pumpkin senkos, darker colored lizards with chartreuse tails, white/chartreuse spinner baits, black/blue spinnerbaits, frogs near heavy cover and lily pads, and brighter colored crankbaits near rocks/stumps. Havent landed anything but crappie in my 5 trips out.

What are you guys throwing?

I would suggest bright colors, or something with a bit of flash. Spinnerbaits will help the fish key in on the bait as well.

Vibration is key, either bright colors or black seems to work best for me.

In shallow dirty water I have three favorites, a single big Colorado chart/white spinnerbait. A black and purple jig, and a red or chart/black squarebill. It seems like time and time again these produce for me when it gets to be gross water conditions.

The parts of Sinclair that i fish most often (murder creek) are generally always muddy with the current moving a little quicker and with the big storms we've had recently most of the lakes are muddy right now. I'll give the jig and cranks a try, thanks.

Yeah man I live on Lake Hartwell so I’m not to familiar with Sinclair, but have fished Oconee once and it was okay. I just covered water and threw a jig and those other baits I mentioned and had a decent day. Let me know how you do!

Chatreause, Hot Pink or Black Spinnerbait with a Big Gold or Black Colorado Blade.

Dark Worms, Dark Jigs

Storm Wiggle Wart in Black, Hot Pink or Chartreuse.

Most Top Water baits are ineffective in muddy water Except for a Buzzbait with a Black or Gold Big Delta Blade.

In super muddy water it is likely the fish simply are not there in heavy numbers right now as you fish. Noisy baits, rattle baits, anything that can let a fish know food is there. Then you must determine if the O2 levels are allowing fish to hold in the area, and if that is okay start fishing top to bottom, ie top water, floater/diver, shallow diver, deep diver, worm on bottom. That can all be seen by the Pro's with the electronics on the boat, but for the average fisherman you will have to determine these things. Or, just go fishing! Sometimes its all about the day on the water, the enjoyment of just fishing.....and then bam! The one that did not get away visits you...........

The shad spawn should've just started at Lake Sinclair. With that said, you have to find the shad. Look for hard dirt or Rocky bottoms, along seawalls, etc. When the water temp gets to 65 degrees or above, they will start spawning and will spawn every full moon after, for a period of time. Your best baits should be, Spinner Bait, Swim Bait, Jerk-bait, Square Bill Crank Bait, and even some top water baits like a Pop-R. The rush won't last but for maybe 1-3 hours a day, depending on if it's an overcast or sunny day. On overcast days, the shad spawn bite will last the longest. Good luck to you.

Just finished two weeks of fishing in river. I fished almost every day. I caught between 15 and 26 fish every day. Not one bad trip. I used tube baits. 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 inches. All tubes were of dark colors. I caught everything from several species of trout and large and smallmouth bass to assorted types of panfish. I did have a few surprises. I caught 3 carp in the 20lb class and a few walleyes. I did try a few bright colors but they were for the most part unsuccessful. All baits were fished with a slow jerking motion. Slow down and make a little bit of noise.
