Went to Deer Creek just outside of Alliance. Got a lockout call so I packed up and took care of my customer. At least I didn't get skunked. My first cast I caught the first one. I was using minnows.

Catching is always to be appreciated. Got one of those ugly striped fellows so far this year!!! Where did you go fishing?

Today shore fishing. I have a 12' boat that I take out when it's not windy, or whenever I get a chance.

I just got a little 14’ I’m working on. I’ve posted about it. Haven’t had a boat in 15 years so I’m excited to be able to get to the fish. Shore fishing is very limiting!!!

Nice catch Lockman, that's the way to start a season. Thanks for the picture.

Some people fish from shore casting and fishing where the boats are while people in boats are casting and fishing the shore line that the people are casting from

True, but there is not a lot of great shore access at the lakes in Ohio near me. Where the good spots exist it’s usually packed. All that said I have and will continue to fish from shore when beneficial. Hope bait will help me to get on more fish! 🎣J

Boat not bait but right bait would also help. 😂

I've been out numerous times. This is a good time to get out and test the waters. I've always been able to catch crappie. Just like real estate the key is location. Find the fish and then use a bait that mimics a minnow. I use a GULP minnow (1 1/2"). Colors: chartreuse, emerald, and shad minnows work best. I've caught crappie. I keep very few.
