I believe it was a little more than a year ago Bruin Outdoors introduced with a lot of fanfare the Paul Elias's baitcaster reel. It had all the bells and whistles and was selling at $350. Not that long ago it started selling everywhere at $150. That is a deep discount. Why do you think that is? Has anyone heard about this reel not getting the sales they expected? I saw a lot of baitcasters on websites being sold out but the same seller had plenty of these reels. I found that interesting. Also I know the saying about getting what you pay for but how would you feel if you bought it for $350 and then seeing this happen? Do still go around talking about your high end reel or now do you have to say it was middle of the road?

That's an interesting concept as I've never considered a reel purchase an investment. If the reel is good and you like it what else matters? Just steer clear of anything endorsed by a pro, those whores will sell their soul for a dollar

I remember hearing about it, but had never heard of Bruin Outdoors. I never investigated it any further as I wasn't in the market for a $350 reel anyway.

Hello Fred. But NOW you can afford it! It is on most of the well-known fishing gear websites.

Happens all the time. Products are made and touted as the latest and greatest then someone comes out with something better and cheaper. Personally I’ve never stood in line to get the first of anything. Hell, I still have an iPhone 3 that I use for personal calls. I’m using an iPhone 7 to send this post. You can stop laughing now. A good example is a 4K tv. Within one year it was obsolete and you could get it for less than half of what it came on the market for. If you bought it, use the hell out of it and get your money’s worth.

You may have a point there. Lol. It’s actually the best digital phone I’ve ever had. The old analog phone I had was better than the iPhone. Technology sometimes is actually regressive. Wait until the folks who are buying electric cars find out how much it’s gonna cost to change and dispose of that battery pack.

Back when they made things like that, they were designed to troubleshoot down to the component. Nowadays just change the whole circuit board. I used to do it myself but things are so small now I can’t see them to solder them. 😁😁😁

Hey Four. Have you ever read the reviews from people who run out and buy the latest I-phone. Not everyone one of them are super happy. A lot comment about their old phone being better!

Yes. It happens all the time. They are so advanced that they can never get all the bugs out. I believe they use us as guinea pigs to help fine tune them. Then they send out the fixes. It’s primarily why I wait and then I still try to get one that’s three to four versions behind. Like Fred, if my old stuff works, keep using it.

I don't stream anything anyway,so don't really need 4G +. I don't understand why people buy 70"Tv's for their home, and then watch a movie on a 6"phone???????

But it is being phased out. Only 4G and 5G will work in the near future.
