Hello I mostly fished with braid and Mono but I want to start using fluorocarbon. Should I use 15lb or 17lb?

TrapHousechronicles: Well, I personally don't see much difference to 15 and 17 lb Fluorocarbon.. Also, if you have had success with braid and mono, why are you changing? You are adding expense and as far as my experiene goes not gaining any benefit.

If you must, you must. Is it because you have seen others fishing with Fluoro? and want to imitate them? Go ahead, but my personal opinion you aren't gaining a thing. Just Sayin...RJS

I only use fluorocarbon for leader material, never as a main line. I'm with RJS, not a lot of difference between 15 and 17 I'd use the lightest I could get away with. But why?

If it is working Trap, why fix it. No advantage to go all Fluro.

If you want a line that sinks (mono and braid both float) and has a little less stretch than mono, is stiffer than either of the others and costs more, fluoro is the way to go. So I'd say it all depends on wether you want your line to sink or not.

Hi guys. Once again I'm on the other side on of the fence on that subject. I only use braid n floro. Luv braid. Rather floro than mono. It lays better n more sensitive less stretch than mono. I use 8 to 12 maybe 14 lb. If i need stronger than that i go braid. 👍👍

If you can't decide try a good copolymer. I've used it good in between line

Hey Trap. If you go floro don't get vicious or seaguar. I got some of ea at a close out sale. It's tough but both are much stiffer than other floros. Good luck with ever way you go. 👍👍

Hi Plum. This line debate has come up before. Fellows what to know why we use floro when momo has caught fish for yrs. Very true I've got many on it. Then i had to chuckle about it. All the advancements in fishing industry is unbelievable. Depth finders with all the bells n whistles power poles trolling motors that run the boat n hold it in place. Bet most of us started with a zebco 😀. Tech specific rods reels with computers. Baits n terminal tackle is insane. Crankbaits n tungsten sinkers. All things to make fishing easier n more comfortable for us. Have a good Bob 👍👍

You are so right Griz, but i look at it if i am catching why change? Same fish count in the same location. To me its all in the bait.
Personally i am hooked on braid, with a flouro leader. Like the feel and seeing the line is a plus for these aging eyes.

I know PLUM I tell Bug all the time if it ain't broke don't fix it. Doesn't work here. If i waz still catfishing I'd probably still use mono. I like floro for the feel like braid. If we all liked the same things we wouldn't have anything to debate LOL. The one on depth finders git a bit heated. Some like old school some new wave. Ain't it fun. By the way how di you like the new fishing locations site admin added last nite. I like it 👍👍

Here you go Griz, being a plumber i improvised a new and approved version.

As for the new site i am in the wait and see mode. I prefer to read what folks are doing all over not just one area. Never no what i can learn unless i check it out.

Why buy one when you can make one. Pvc ranks right up there with duct tape zip ties n shrink wrap. I used pvc ti support my boat cover to make rod holder on pond boat sand spikes for beach. All kinds of stuff. 6 yrs installing main line water n sewer. 8yrs with co water n sewer main line sevice lines meters. I've worked with all types of water n sewer lines. Not a bad job 👍👍
