New to fishing in Northeast Ohio

Hi everyone! I’m new to fishing, but very excited to give it shot. I have a two piece fishing rod. I’m wondering what would happen to my rod if by chance I do happen to catch a good size fish. I have seen videos of people catching huge fish and their rods just bend and bend. I can’t believe they don’t break. Is that because they are one piece rods or are they just really expensive rods.

Welcome to the Forum, Maria, I don't think I would worry about my rod until I had a big fish on it. Good luck!

Welcome M. I have both one piece and two piece rods. Never had one break on me with a big fish. Welcome to the forum

You hook one big enough to make you worry about it ... well that’s what it’s all about

Hi Maria, welcome to the Stage. Where in NE Ohio are you located? What kind of rod and reel do have and what kind of fishing are maybe looking for? There is probably someone near that would be able to help.Tight lines as some on here will say and have fun!

Welcome to the Stage Maria, I wouldn't worry about breaking a 2 piece rod. I've had several over the years, freshwater and surf, caught lot's of fish, and never broken a rod. Put it out of your mind, and concentrate on catching a few fish. Just set your drag properly for the line you're using, and you'll be fine.

I’m from the Cleveland/Akron area. I have a 6’ rod with a spin cast reel. I’m doing great at casting now, which is quite an improvement from last year :)
