What are some tips on how to avoid passing human scent onto bait?

Wash your hands with unscented soap. Use an attractant like Gulp or one of the many available Scent sprays. If you think you have a particularly strong scent, try a pair of tight fitting latex or nitrile gloves. Good luck
Mglav.... here is my two cents on scents (pun intended). I believe that predator fish mostly use sight and vibration (sound) to determine if something is going in their mouth. Taste or scent is used to determine if it will stay in their mouth That's why so many don't believe in using scents on their artificial baits. You don't need it to catch fish. Personally, I'm using anything that makes a fish hold the bait a little longer because I have the reflexes of an old fart. Fred gave you some good advice you can follow but unless you wash your hands in gasoline or regularly have hands that smell of some other highly disagreeable scent (nothing worse than that 1 ply toilet paper) I wouldn't stress over it to much.

Good Mornin' Maria, I can't tell you about the honey holes in Summit county, but I wouldn't worry about the scent on my hands. NCS made a good point about fish keeping the bait in its mouth. I have seen many trout spit a fly out of its mouth so fast that you had absolutely no chance to set the hook.
