Photos ( if I do this right) show my old Plano hip box from the 60s....found my old Boy Scout knife in it! Must be about 70 yrs old? .a Garcia reel is filled with line dated Oct of 1965!
The new bag is a soft side with lots of bins.....filled 3....2 more partial fill...1 empty yet.....pockets galore! I really surprised myself after checking out the hard side boxes picking this one....but it looks like it will do a better job without cracking in the Florida heat. Will let you know....on sale for $55.....hope to break it in in a week or so....

Have some of my father’s old boxes that look the same and still have them filled with the baits we used fifty years ago. I see a reel on the table in the background. Is that a Quick reel?

I never cared for the hip roof boxes. The bigger they are the more they like to tip over... and then the fun begins!

Most all of my tackle goes into Plano 3700 series or Flambeau 5007 boxes. Easy to grab and see whats there without opening.

Your gonna like those Ozzie!!

I did the same transition last year after moving from trout territory (Colorado) to ocean and inland waterway fishing (Norfolk, VA area). Whole new type of fishing. My son who has lived here for awhile said to set up some boxes for general tackle and then set up other boxes for specific fish (like one box for bass tackle, rigs, lures, hooks, etc.; another for stripers, etc) Works well.

I have many of the same old memories with fishing gear and fishing holes. My older brother took me fishing all during our child hood and we were fishing partners for most of our adult life. Many fishing spots we fish together for over 50 years. Nothing like all fishing memories.

Iveygw2:; Well, your kids and grand kids would like to hear those stories. Why dont you write them down, or put them in WORD. If that is too much trouble, go on line and look for voice recorders. I believe it is Amazon that has recorders for little as low $20.00, that way all you have to do is talk and someone else can transcrible.

Remember, when we are gone, all our stories are gone as well. What a waste. That's why I write mine, and I recommend yo do the same. Just Sayin...RJS

Ozzie, if you hit “Quote reply”, it’s next to reply, it will let us know who you are replying to. If you were replying to me, I still have a few of those Quick reels. They spent their whole lives in salt and still work great.

I changed to a soft bag with plastic trays last year. Great move on my part. The deciding factor was when i asked my grandson to hand me my tackle box. It was not fastened and the contents went every where. He was greatly up set and was afraid i would be also. I shrugged it off and went out and bought the soft bag the next week.
