Saw some post about cars being worked on, fish being caught, lawns being cut, road trips ready to happen, boats being cleaned up, and here i sit proud as a peacock for doing nothing today.

Oh darn, tomorrow is the day of rest.

I guess i am well prepared then.

Hey I smoked some chicken wings and drumsticks, made coleslaw and macaroni salad and I've got some strawberries macerating in sugar and brandy. This evening, I intend to eat it all up.

Spirit: I read one of your posts that you got shot by a farmer in his watermelon patch. Wow! Sounded like he was one mean S.O.B. shooting boys for a melon, is rather miserly.

One night I heard some guys in our watermelon patrch and asked dad to let me load the shotgun and fire it in the air. his response was "How much can they eat?" and would not let me shot in the air, even.

I cannot remember knowing anyone else that was shot in anger. I do have a friend who grew up in the same community as I did, joined the U.S. Army at the very beginning and was stationed in the Aleutian Islands. He was bayoneted in a Japanese in a banzi attack. Fortunately he had a .45 and blew his brains out. just Sayin....RJS

Yes the guy was a rotten SOB, that's why we were raiding his watermelon patch. Hard to believe after some of the stuff I've gotten into in my life that the only time I ever got shot was over some damn stunted watermelons.
