Trying my luck on sturgeon fishing for the first time! Anybody got any tips for me? Currently using a heavy Carolina rig, 4 oz sliding weight, 16in leader, only got anchovies and grass shrimp for bait for now.

Keep bait on the bottom, watch the tides, moving water is better. They feed similar to catfish, they like deep holes and come up on ledges to feed. If you can find a clam bed that's a good place. Watch your line closely they are a bottom feeder and despite thier size have a light bite. Let them eat whatever bait you soaking and set the hook solidly.

Good Luck tight lines!

Also Lando if you can get some eel or ghost shrimp you’ll have a better chance of getting a hook up like the last person said they have a soft bite so let them swallow when your line loads up set the hook and hang on 🎣👍🍀good luck
