Early in my brokerage career I was with Merrill Lynch. At Christmas that year we were invited to the home of one of the managers on Sunday afternoon for coffee, Wassel, and fun. For some unknow reason, but not needing one, the hostess had put a red holiday cap with white trim on my head as a fun touch of the season.
At the time I was dressed in a business suit and had a full beard that was white as snow, much like the one I am presently wearing. There was a large group of us seated in the living room and engaged in a few separate conversations. Suddenly, the front door opened and in walked another family. The father held the door for his two children and wife.
After they entered, the daughter perhaps three or four years old, held up one arm for her father to help her remove her coat. He simply took hold of her sleeve and she pirouetted out of the coat. When she stopped she was standing about two feet away and staring directly at me.
I could tell from the expression on her face she believed she was looking directly at Santa Clause and was speechless. In a feeble attempt to help her feel more at ease, I said, “you know, when it isn’t Christmas season, Santa has to work too. So, he works at Merrill Lynch to help daddies and mommies to make money and be able to buy nice things for their children. You don’t mind if Santa does that, do you?”
She was speechless, and walked away, still in a little bit of a daze at her encounter with Santa face to face. Hopefully, Santa made a good impression on her. Just Sayin…RJS

Nice story JR. Wonder how she explained that encounter to Mom and Dad.
I should have asked dad later in the office! She was quite surprised at our encounter! Just Sayin... RjS

Cute. Little ones can be delightful! We have two new grand-nephews we can't wait to meet.
