Love fishing but unable to catch'em.
Hey guys, I live in Georgia I enjoy the outdoors and fishing is part of that, but I haven't been able to catch any yet, I fish flesh water. My baits are worms "mealworms, Canadian nightcrawlers" and I do have lures. I fish for brims or cats. Any advice
Just dont give up, they'll make a mistake sooner or later. Try finding some hints on YouTube, plenty of videos there
Brims are what us yankees call bluegill I believe. You can't hardly do any better than a worm under a bobber. Just a matter of finding them. Catfish on the other hand, I would change bait from worms to either cut bait or chicken livers. Get you a pair of lady's nylons or panty hose, cut out some squares, wrap the livers in the nylon and then wrap that up with magic thread. Keeps it on the hook better. Use about a 3/0 hook for cats. Circle hooks work great. Let em take it then just start reeling, don't set the hook - the fish will hook itself. And welcome to the stage gl.
Find the edges of the weed lines and check for beds in the shallows as the gills may be looking to spawn. Follow Spirit’s advice on those cats. Good luck and welcome!

Welcome to the Stage Godslove, there you go,advice from experts! Good luck and Tight Lines.
I guess that is why it’s called fishing and not like, well catching. It all comes with experience . While YouTube etc can very helpful, sometimes the videos make it look like you throw out a line and catch a fish. That is not quite the way it works . Fishing is a challenge, embrace it, learn as much as you can and enjoy it. Welcome and good luck . I can offer no advice on catfish, but I do catch a lot of bluegill while fishing for trout. A small jig, with a small curly tail grub seems to be particularly effective bluegill magnet.
It is still early in the year. A lot of experienced fishermen are still drawing a blank. Just keep at it. The fish will join you soon. Just a bit of advice: Start fishing cats in the evening when everyone else goes home. Cats are primarily night feeders. But that being said, I have caught some great stringers full mid day.
Try using a hook . . . Capt Chuck
Hire a guide. It will cost a bit, but the knowledge you gain will last you the rest of your life. Share a guide with a friend or relative to cut your cost in half. (Most guides expect a gratuity in addition to whatever rates they charge, so factor that in.) Make friends with some locals and fish with them. If they have a boat and you don't, offer to pay for gas, bait, lunch, whatever seems fair. Watch YouTube fishing videos for ideas. For panfish, use light line, not over 4 pounds, small hooks, Eagle Claw #10 baitholder hooks work well, small bobber, worms, not nightcrawlers. Circle hooks if you plan to release them so you don't gut hook a fish. Small jigs or small spinner baits if you like casting. Good luck!

For fishing for the catfish try Triple S dip bait using a tube, #6 treble hook and a slip sinker rig. This stink bait is the best I've ever used. I've caught catfish in Febuary on it in 25 acre lakes.
We all miss type know and again thwats wot nakes it fum
