Anyone out there throwing big swimbaits for bass? 6”- 10”+, 3-8oz+? I know a few of us on this site would like to hear from you all🤔🎣

Not for bass. That’s my musky range.
Big bass are pretty rare around here

Ya, my buddy in Tennessee lives really close to a couple top notch Muskie rivers! Next time I head out that way I’m gonna try and talk him into floating the river for a day or two...

Years ago I used to fish Tygarts creek in Kentucky
Typical bass gear was very effective. Often caught nice smallmouth , largemouth and musky in same day.
Close quarters work

For some reason, my buddy is anti Muskie! I bet if he hooks into one that will change! I’ve never caught one myself but I’m very interested in giving it a go next time I’m in the South! No Muskie in Southern California... giant bass though! Unfortunately our lakes are over pressured and horrendously managed! Basically, the opposite of Texas, Tennessee, Florida and the other states that know what the hell their doing 🤦🏻‍♂️🎣

Once you hook a good sized Muskie you will be hooked forever. I used to fish Lake St. Claire and the saying was you used to have to fish 40 hours to get a musky to hit and only landed 1 out of 5. They were so worth it I used to spend the time. Muskies loved feathers and spinners in combination. I still have the first musky lure I ever bought
I was 14 and had to caddy doubles for 18 holes to get the money to buy it in 1954. Now I am salt water and have new fish to love.

I’m definitely gonna spend some time fishing for Muskie next time I’m in Tennessee... probably extend my stay for 2 days and hunt for some toothy fish! Salt water now huh? I love to surf fish both here in So Cal, and Baja Mexico! My wife, daughter and I are surfers & we spend 1/2 the summer down in Baja Sur Mexico... that said, I always bring my heavy fishing gear with! Amazing surf & surf fishing down there! I like to target big snapper on top water plugs or huge snook ... no rooster fish yet 🤷🏼‍♂️🎣

We have some monster Red Fish here and tangling with one of those big boys will make your arms sorer than
pitching horseshoes all afternoon. We also have some really big Cobia who have a bad disposition when you get them in the boat. They say never put a green Cobia (not tired out) in the boat or it will find a way to break up everything it comes near. My favorite fish to eat is Trigger Fish a bottom fish we have to go out a long way to get. I haven't had the pleasure of a Wahoo encounter yet but one of these days. Salt water fishing is great and I'm glad to be here but sometimes I miss the Musky and the big small mouths I used to catch up north. Keep them lines tight.
