Help me out on deciding which reel size to buy for my 6'6 medium/heavy rod. This is for freshwater only (bass) I normally use a texas rig with this setup. Sometimes I'll throw a jighead with a yum swim'n dinger or a ribbon tail worm on there. But yeah, 30 or 35? Maybe a 40?

I was going to spool it with 10 lb fluorocarbon line. I know the specs for 35 says not to go higher than 8 lb on bass pro shops website, but I don't think it's a big deal. What do you think?

I would first check the balance with a 30 and a 35 on your rod, either will do the job. Kinda leaning towards the 35.

If you have the chance take it into the store and put one on the rod to check the balance. If it feels good, buy it during their sale.

A medium-heavy might balance best with a 35, but like others suggest, I would take the rod to the store and check both the 30 and the 35 for balance / feel.

I do believe a 40 will be bigger than you would need.

I did hit send a little too quickly.

I do have a size 30 Pflueger on a 6'6" Medium-Heavy Clarus rod, and that is a great fit, so again, trying them both on the rod is the only way to know.

I just put a 30 on my 7 foot light BPS rod. Balanced out perfect and holds plenty of 20# braid.

They only go as high as a 40, i guess that could be around the same size or a little bigger than a 1500

A 30 is plenty tough enough and the weight won’t be a strain fishing all day

I own all 3 sizes and I would use the 35 or 40 on a medium heavy rod.
