Was looking for a light spinning rod for flounder in the bay this season....so i check Tackle Direct and they have a sale on a Diawa spinner..great price...etc....Medium rod, fast action...sounds like just what i need. Rod got here last night....has all the flexibility of a telephone pole.

Good rod , just not for what i wanted to use it for....lesson learned...gotta hold it and see how it feels before buying. Wasnt expensive, and i wii use it for other things, so im not complaining, just gotta buy another one now.

Internet great i guess for lures and things but i think ill stay away from rods and reels on there

Have a few rods like that I use strictly for live bait under a popping cork or a Carolina rig when fishing for redfish. It aids in casting distance and hook set.

The light ones? Thats what I figured would be better for flounder....already bought a medium heavy for stripers etc....now i have 2.... but the description was medium, fast actin...cant tell by a picture.

Actually they are medium heavy but are stiff like the ones you described. When we target flounder it’s a medium heavy also. The lighter rods are better suited for the speckled trout as they have soft mouths.

When ordering rods on line, you need to do your homework on the brand. Action and power vary by different companies. I’m a big St. Croix fan so I know there power is higher than the rod states so I purchase accordingly. With that being said. I agree nothing beats holding the rod in your hand.

Another day...another lesson learned. I saw Diawa and the price on sale was cheaper than most Walmart rods so i jumped on it without doing my homework.

It doesn’t help there is no universal rating
One by manufacturers medium is another manufacturers heavy or light

Also people need to learn the difference between action and power. I see a lot of anglers bend the end of the rod and believe that’s the rod power.

I buy all my gear from Tackle Warehouse! Rods, reels, lures etc... What I like about TW is the in depth description of all the products and the numerous reviews on each product. Also, TW has an incredible return policy. If you don’t like a certain product, it’s faulty, or you just want to exchange it for a different size, color or action, they deliver all their products with a return form and a UPS free return shipping sticker! Absolutely nothing to loose!

See if your local tackle store has the same rod so you can check out the action and see if they can match the price. If they can come close it’s always better to buy local. IMHO.

Danger, exactly why I don’t buy clothes or shoes on the Internet. I’ve gotten burned on some artificial, made in China, junk baits before too.
