What is the strongest fishing line, I need to set up some booby traps?

I have new creepy crackhead neighbors, I know they have climbed our fence trying to steal every and anything. I don't want to do anything crazy. Just want to put some fishing line along the fence line, so when tripped, maybe it knocks over a loud alluminum garbage can, or something that can make some noise and alert us. I know it would make more sense to get cameras, and alarms, but financially not possible. I would help if it's clear, or non-shiny so it doesn't catch the light. What do you recommend?

50lb power pro braid in moss green or another dull color should work beautifully.

Have you checked the legality of human booby traps in your area?

Probably depends on how many treble hooks you have strung on it, and if crackhead is in season or not.

Depends on the area. It sounds like they might be invasive, from OPs post.

I suggest you buy a strong car/truck battery and electric fence wire, plus plastic insulators. Try and rig the insulators and wire in an inconspicuous manner and connect it to the battery at times when it will be most effective. (That will cut down on battery drainage.). Personally, I would take much more aggressive action. Most of us work very hard for what we have and having it stolen for any reason is shameful.

Sadly if you cause someone injury , you may be liable even if they're a crook . So first ask police to put your house on a watch list . look for cheap solar lights that have motion activation ,criminals don't like lights ! . Think First ! remember depending on how deep they are in ,Drugs and Guns is a combo that you don't mess with . Even though you don't have security cameras ,doesn't mean that you can't have signs saying the premises is protected by ABC security . or in my Case Smith and Wesson and his friends aka Mr Ithaca and a couple others . But I can be a cranky old man and I have a tractor to bury the body lol

I love these responses ! ...I have also 'donated' to the night prowlers ... The thought of electrified bear traps is fascinating ... but the regular cattle fence wire is enough to really get their attention. You'll spend $200 to set it up. Hi-strength braid can be dangerous ... can loose a finger if tangle up in it, 'cause the 10# line actually breaks at 40# ... use 12# mono in moss green. Go to the neighbors around you, including the new ones, on a friendly 'Neighborhood CrimeWatch" and enlist everyone's aid to help watch out for each other ... sends a signal. Or, take guidance from the owner of a top notch security provider, who is a reformed burglar ... "i paid my dues, and since it was hard to find work afterwards, i put my natural aptitude to use. But, I could build you the best, state of the art system money can by, but none of them can equal a dog."
