looks like a wolf spider. unfortunately escaping down the drain will not harm it. I suggest you wear a face mask tonight as they like to explore up nostrils or down throats. they don't seem to care about ear canals.
You don't want to get stung by a wolf spider. Not nice. If house is new might want pro exterminator and whatever you do don't tell the ladies in house or any you want to visit. Rubbing Alcohol will kill most insects if you have any. It is also not some major toxic chemical that will be around to poison you.

Not fond of them danged critters, neither ! Look at it this way - the little bugger's gone - either way !
So, pop open a cold one and celebrate the victory !
Relax guys just pulling the chain. Caption and spider pic from the internet.

Dang, PB ! That is a fair-sized, nasty-looking critter ya got
there ! Ya got a bridle and saddle for him/her ?
Method one - if you can corner/confine it long enough,
put some water on to boil then scald the little bugger !
Method two - grab a small
handful of paper towels, wet 'em,
then use the wet, wadded paper
to pick it up and toss it into the crapper (as you're flushing) !
Method three - grab a pair of
heavy work shoes/boots by the toe and swat the damned spider with the heel !
