Anyone know any good rods capable of casting 1/64th ounce lures a decent distance

I am mainly a trout fisherman, and I rarely fish anything other than local creeks. I’m looking to get an ultralight set up that can allow me to cast smaller lures, like trout magnets, without using extra weights. Because in my experience the weights really mess with the presentation of the jigs, and usually cause them to drag across the bottom. Also the creeks in my area can get pretty wide at certain points, like 50+ feet so ideally I’d be able to cast most of the way across.

Other than the rod I’ve been thinking about using a Shimano Sedona 500FI reel, and 4lb fluorocarbon line.

I’d start thinking about picking up a fly rod, if you haven’t already. Careful though, it’s addictive.

I already have one, but sadly I’ve never used it. My grandfather gave me one of his many years ago when I showed interest in it, but the year he gave it to me was the last year I fished as a kid (due to problems with my father that prevented him from taking me fishing anymore). I just started to fish again last year, and have meant to start using it. Every time I go out I debate bringing it but never do, it’s almost like I’m scared to try it since I have no idea how to use it. Although my grandfather found out I fish again, and wants to go now, so who knows I could be using it within the week.

A 7' cubby panfish rod, only $40 too! They also have 2 sections which makes them easy to get through the woods to little trout spots.

It's my favorite rod, I have 3. You can catch anything on it, if you get one you'll be addicted too!

I've been using a KastKing Calamus rod, Ultra light 5 foot. The reel is a KastKing Centron. Used the 3000 for a while and it worked fine, then put that on a different pole and put the Centron 500 on the Calamus. Using 4lb mono. The rod is 60$ and the reel is $20. Really like both of those for the price. Might change the reel later, but right now I'm really happy with both, about 4-5 months into heavy use with them.

Been using it for trout, I've thrown the trout magnets and those little bitty helgrammite trout slayers too. Also thrown relatively large spinners and spoons on that setup too.

I have the exact same setup, except I have the 2500 reel. It’s a great combo, I just for the life of me can’t cast a trout magnet more than 15 ft. I don’t know if It’s me, or if I need to get a 500 reel for it (probably me lol). Works well with everything else though.

Either way I usually use two rods if I’m not gonna be on the move too much (one for bait, and one for lures), and I’ve been meaning to get a second ultralight.

I bought a 6’6” 3 wt fly blank off e-bay fer $3.50 and built it with fly guides and modified a $4.00 cork seat and handle to between spin and fly location. Put Zebco featherlite reel on it,4lb.test. Does pretty good. Used polyester machine embroidery thread. Would post picture but ain’t figgered it out yet. Besides cheap, it’s a lot of enjoyment puttin together.
