Have you ever been challenged when you know you were right?

Stood my ground many years ago when upper management said i couldn't use the phone while working at my bench. Gave them a choice instead. Put a phone on the wall away from me and i will stop working to answer it, or leave it here on my desk and production continues.

Bottom line: Stand up for what we know is right.

After i got the look of disgust that i was right, the phone stayed on the bench clear to the day i retired.

Only makes sense plum. I’ve been in IT my entire career and from the time I got my first cell phone it was on my desk. Never had any complaints from management, but never abused that privilege either.

Young people (kids) do not understand this fact of life.

And your right about standing up for what you feel is right, people will walk all over you and that would suck.

Neither did I Rut. Odd thing was part of my tech duties was to order PC boards from various vendors by gathering quotes, spread sheeting them and letting the Engineers know what bids looked the best.

So i tested management by putting a computer and printer on my bench as well. The phone for some reason irked management. Little did they realize the 3 need to go together.

It's been said when they can't do anything else make them a boss. When i worked construction we'd get supervisors that didn't have a clue. One tried to force me to dig an unsafe ditch. I wouldn't do it. He said he'd write me up. I told him I'd dig it his way if he got in it n layed the pipe. He didn't. I told him to write me up n I'd go to osha n report him. He left. Little man little knowledge. I had a tight crew n i kept them safe. When you're setting a man hole base in a 20' ditch it's all about trust. 3 men in trench one spotter n me. One of those stand up for whats right moments.

Oh the memories come back on that post. Tied in a few sewer connections in my day and trust in your help is a must. Pot heads not welcomed on those jobs.

You are correct on that Gordon. Except I get an occasional call for a project now and then however most stuff can be bought off the shelf these days. Except for the specialized devices. They never replaced me so once in awhile i get to play at work.

Sounds great in theory. I assume that applies to your wife too. That's okay. I know there's exceptions to.everything.
