So basically in the south weve been getting absolutely hammered w rain. i still want to get on some tomorrow, but the area i wanna hit will def have very high, and straight up brown water. how should i target these bass? i havent really had good luck when the water gets real high in the past but i want to get out in the early morning in case they are up shallow near the newly flooded cover and i can get some topwater going or something.

If you just got hammered by the storm I'm being hit by currently, I would start by looking for anything that holds heat. Top fishing time in murky waters (I fish a lot of retention ponds) seems to be around mid-day when the sun is high.

Your options are 1) Drop it in their face 2) Noise/Vibration makers. 3) Go sow. Shakeyheads do well for me in murky water.

Spinner baits, crank baits and jigs. The fish should ideally be holding super tight to shallow cover. Throw these three baits in the nastiest lay downs you can find and hang on. I would recommend white, red, chartreuse or black and blue colors.

Good luck!

Personally I like noise when fishing in chocolate milk, rattle traps, bladed jigs like a chatterbait, I have also had luck using a large popper and using slack line jerks to get big pops with minimal lure movement.

Basically you want something that you can keep moving slow and keep making noise so the fish have time to find it, throwing crankbaits that dive a few feet deeper than what your fishing is another thing that can work too. Good luck!

If the water is still rising find spots where the water doesn’t have a long way to go back (coves with steeper banks) so you can limit the water you have to cover. Flip cover in the very backs of these areas dead center of cover and they’ll be holding tight as close as they can to cover. When the water starts to falls you’ll be able to fish these same coves but fish the outside edges closer to the original water line.

Gold spinnerbait, gold cranks, black/blue chatterbait, black/blue lizard or brush hog fished weightless. If it's deeper water add a red bead to your weight for a t-rig. Big profiles, lots if appendages.

Most the water I fish is muddy.. all the time.
