Well, The monkey has been on my back for a month or better to get to water. With two new things in my life for the outdoors, i was jonesin' to hightail it to the lake. First, I found a new kayak partner, old Dapper Dan said goodbye to the work-a-day life and decided to become a 'yaker. Second, I got me a new Perception Pescador 12.0 pedal 'yak.So we gather up and head to Lake Bridgeport in North central Texas. We just finished almost two weeks of sub-freezing weather. I was hoping the water had warmed some and it had. We found mid-forty degree water. Now boys, that's cold for Texas. I backed the truck up and that is when the storm started. Dapper Dan was to use my old 12 foot Cabelas fishing kayak and as we were floating on the water he said he needed to adjust the seat, then the foot rests, then we had to put the two-piece oar together and finally he's ready to start. Now it's Lil Mutt's turn. I dropped the pedal unit and couldn't reach the pin to lock it in place. Ten minutes later I finally got the thing down, locked and ready to go. But my long legs were too close and I had to adjust the seat to fit the pedals. I looked up and Dapper Dan is fifty yards down the bank just chunkin' and windin'. Oh, no, I can't let him catch the first fish. I take off after him trying to tie the 1/8 oz. hair jig on and darn near ran into the boat dock at the ramp. I found out pretty quick that I can't look down to tie a jig on and pedal a kayak with the rudder all at the same time. But, be proud of me, cause I got her tied and started after Dapper Dan. Second cast, I hung a rock and broke off. Retied. fourth cast, hung a stump. Broke off. Retied. Look up and Dan was a hundred yards down the bank. Slow down, take your time. Four hours later, I caught Dapper Dan and he reports no fish. I have yet to get a bite. Dapper Dan says how hard it is to paddle this d#@^ed kayak and he is going to buy himself a padel one. And I'm thinking I'll sell this thing. But, I guess I'll have to give it a few more trips. We headed back to the ramp about a mile away. Oh, by the way, the fishing was great, the catching was terrible. We didn't catch a thing. And i still loved it! Remember: muddy side down.

Great Maiden voyage. Didn’t get the hands wet, cold and slimy and didn’t have to stick your hand in some ole fishes mouth LOL. Glad you enjoyed the trip.

Good news. No fish to clean. Bad news. No fish to eat.
Figured out where not to fish or what not to use. You will find fish.
