Are Cold Winters Better?

This is completely anecdotal! It's just an observation of mine over the years.

It seems to me that if we get a moderate to hard winter. On average the fishing is better when it warms up in the spring and early summer. The colder the winter the better the bite.

This could just be a short circuit in my little pea brain.
