Hello everyone,
I just purchased a Shimano NASCI 4000 and I am very excited to try it out when fishing season starts. I am by no means a professional, but I do primarily river bank fishing.
Upon doing some online reading, I am reading alot about the Daiwa BG. And how it is a better reel then the NASCI. There was no Daiwa BG's in store for me to test, and would probably purchase this online.
I was wondering if anyone had an opinion on these two reels? I am leaning towards the Daiwa BG now because of the all aluminum body.
Thanks everyone!

Can’t speak on the shimano but I was in the same boat as you between the two reels. I ended up getting the BG 3000 and I have zero regrets, I love that reel.

I own both the Nasci and BG in a number of sizes. The BG aside from generally being somewhat big for it’s size and line rating is also noticeably heavier than the Nasci. So there is trade off in balance for the beefier body and main gear of the BG. Though it definitely gives the impression of a smoother retrieve.
Where I tend to prefer the Nasci is in the smaller 500-2500 sizes for lighter finesse freshwater duties like trout fishing, drop shot and shakeyhead work. The BG works better with inshore fishing, dragging tubes, jigs etc.
At the 4000 reel size I’d be more inclined to go with the BG over the Nasci but wouldn’t go so far as to return or exchange it had I already bought it.

I was initially going to purchase the 3000. But as I was a casual fisherman, and wanted the line capacity. I opted for the 4000. So, in your opinion... I should keep the Nasci? Thanks for the help!

I would keep it personally. Both are solid reels that sell very well for good reason.
