How do you cast lighter lures while beach fishing?

Everytime i try to use a lighter lure while beach fishing i cant cast far because of the wind. It usually casts really really shallow. Is there something i can do to cast them further?

Make sure your rod and line match your lure weight. You are not going to cast a 1/4 oz. lure with a rod that has a lure weight of 2 - 4 ozs.
