I’ve been able to catch some bass on this lure but only by trolling on a kayak because I can’t figure out how I’m supposed to cast this thing. It’s very light and I can probably cast it 15 feet on a good day. What can I do to cast it further?

Could it be your rod action? Too stiff of a tip won’t flick the lighter weight baits.

Possibly, these lures are so light though I feel like I wouldn’t be able to cast them without a weight or something.

If you have a small one that's only 1/16oz. I use a super light setup for things like that. What's the power and action on the rod?

Yeah some of those are meant to be cast with really light gear. Sometimes gear so might I haven’t seen it in bait cast setups. Mostly spinning gear.

If you can find a light action (1/16 - 5/8 oz lure) 6 foot spinning rod and a spinning reel you should be able to cast the lure. I have fished them with an ultra-light spinning outfit as well. Hook a five pound bass on an ultra-light outfit and you'll have a lot of fun.
