Catching bass with a spoon?

I'm used to soft rubber lures and the tug-tug-reel-wait action. I tried a metal spoon the other day and couldn't figure out how to fish it. Do I just slowly bring it in, or do something similar to a rubber lure? Thanks!

Slowly retrieve with a few tugs every once and a while.

I’m big on what we call rooster tails. Reel only fast enough to make it spin. No jerking just a consistent reel.

According to what kind of spoon you're using. The ones we use are done several ways to see what they prefer. If you're dropping it beside the boat and/or casting and reel it back to your self. Pop the rod up about 2 feet and tight line it back down. pop the rod and let it free fall, lift the rod and do the two options.
