Lake Michigan Lures Help

Hi I am going to Lake Michigan in a couple of weeks for spring break and was wondering what are some lures people use there. I’d like to catch some of my first trout and maybe salmon while I’m there. I already have a bunch of bass lures, some inline spinners, rapala minnows, and I may also use live worms too. I was thinking of getting some panther martins, rapala countdown, a red lipless for bass, and some hair jigs. Anyone have any other good recommendations?

Casting spoons like Kastmasters and Cleos or Luhr Jensen Krocodiles may work. Try to find a warm water discharge near a power plant, if possible. Good luck!

Blue and silver Little Cleos have been a go to bait since trout and salmon have been planted in the Great Lakes. Most flashy spoons work.

Don't some places around the lake use curly tail grubs that imitate Gobi for SM bass? I know they do some places up there.

Interesting you mention Gobi when they first showed up in my home lake at the time, Lake Erie, everyone was shaking in their boots when we were told how much damage they could cause to the fishing industry. Fishing shows were ringing their hands and fishermen were discussing how bad things were going to be. Then in a year or so it was discovered that the Gobi became the Small Mouth Bass's favorite food. The Small Mouths saved us.
