Looking at buying my first reel over $100. I have a few combos that I have bought over the years, but wanting something that is quality with a better drag system than what I get with my combos. I fish freshwater, and mainly walleyes. I have the eyecon rod to pair it with (bought this Xmas). Is there that much of a difference to pay the $80? Fish 2-3 times a week in the summer. Thanks

It really depends on what you want
I have an Ultegra 2500 and it’s a good reel for the money , but the reel I have is one that I have on board for my back seater to use. It’s rarely on the front deck . Mine is mounted on a St Croix premier
I don’t have a Vanford but I will. Most likely will replace the ultegra. The Vanford is new but it is the replacement for the Stradic Ci4 which is an outstanding reel. A lot of the Vanfords features are carryover from the Stradic. The Stradic (s) are always on the front deck . These are mounted on Loomis GLX and ST Croix Legend.
Is it worth the extra $80
To me yes. Difference between a good reel and an outstanding reel
Or just get the Stradic Ci4.
Then it’s a decision of proven track record and a new release for the same price.
