I figured the spawn/pre-spawn would be fairly soon, but if we continue to have cold weather I wasn’t sure if it would change. I haven’t had much luck fishing in the winter so I just haven’t really planned to fish any until spawn, pre-spawn.

Water temps will be your clue. Bass will start moving up and staging off of spawning areas in low 50s. In upper 50s to lower 60s males will come up and claim an area for bed. Females will move in when water temps are right. Middle 60s. This is just a general guide line and can vary a bit. If you find males on beds and no females they will be staged up at the 1st cover or structure out from bed. That is where you can really catch some nice ones. One recommendation I would make at this time of year in to release everything you catch so they can spawn and you can have a new batch of fish for coming years.
