Noob question. Braid line and leader

This is for fishing inshore saltwater in South Florida. I'm preparing my first fishing rod. I have a 20 lb braid line. Now I'm not sure what leader to use. I have a 10 lb fluorocarbon line and a 40 lb fluorocarbon line. Which one should I use with the 20 lb braid? Thank you.

I tend to take a different approach. I use braid whose diameter matches the rod specifications for mono, and then use a leader that is within the specs of the rod. For example, if the rod is rated 6-15 lbs, I might put on 20 lbs or 30 lbs braid and use, at most, a 15 lbs fluoro leader.

This accomplishes two things:

- If I hook into a huge fish it might break my line, but not the rod;

- It's likely to break off the leader, not the main line, saving everything above the swivel.
