I went fishing around Roseburg, Oregon for a couple days. Fished the Coquille and the South Umpqua. It was a great time with a good friend. Caught one Nice Steelhead. About 15 pounds, 33.5”. Great time fishing. Hope to do it again someday.
Nice catch thanks for sharing.
Nice steelie there, Cowboy ! And that size from the SOUTH Umpqua, that is good news....'cause the NORTH Umpqua is the one with the biggies, so that bodes well for the season up there. I have not been up there for years, .....you make me feel lazy for not driving a couple of hours !
What were you using, method/bait-wise ? I was bobber-dogging eggs and then tried soft beads, about 10 days ago, on the Rogue here, and had no luck. Mainly curious because it looks like the stretch you are fishin' is as "bank-full" as we are, yet maybe just a bit clearer. Swinging flies in the riffles can't happen till we calm down enough to actually HAVE riffles....lol. You inspire me to go again soon... thanks !
Yes, I’m in Redding, CA and fished Monday and Tuesday. Hired a guide on a drift boat. All the guides agreed it’s been really slow the past year. There were 6 of us that went and only 3 of us caught fish. Mine was the only hatchery fish so I’m the only one that got a keeper. We were using both, what I call Glo Bugs and soft beads. About 3” above the hook. We used both with bobbers and without. Caught this girl on the bead with out a bobber. Now that girl had some Roe!!! She made three great runs! Great time!! Did see guys Dunking. Saw two of them pull in fish. Good luck!!
Cool that you got a keeper ! I have been when we hooked 6-10, and they were all nats that we had to release them and go home without anything for the smoker.
Hope you cured those eggs... ain't nothing better to catch another on, than the eggs from the first one.
Gave the roe to the guide! I’m such a nice guy!

Great fish, and great looking water conditions. Congratulations! Sounds like you had a wonderful break from the COVID-19 social distancing.
I’ve had the skunk on me for about 3 weeks now on my stream.
Remember when some states closed fishing and forced us all off the rivers and lakes?
