Got my Tokyo rigs put together
I went with Gamagatsu EWG fine wire instead of the VMC heavy EWG
The wires are spinner bait looped wires. I left them at 6 inches. I’m thinking that’s what I want. Weights are back to back tungsten 1/8 and 3/16 for a total weight of 1/4 and 3/8
Spro size 3 split rings and VMC 130 # swivels
Pretty clean assembly
Did 3 of each weight on 3-0 and 4-0 hooks and 1 each hook size with no weight.
Now to try em out
Sweet rig. What weights did you use?
Out of curiosity ( this could be a learning moment for me ) why would you use a 6" tokyo rig? at that point why wouldn't you just use a drop shot? I use T-rigs at like 3 or 4", actually like them for punching, but 6"? what am I missing? Thanks!

Great question. I don’t know. I’m thinking 6 inches off the bottom would be good.
It’s my first time making and using these.
My thought is if I don’t like it I could cut them down.

Bought some off brand tungsten on Amazon. Can’t remember the name. Cheapest ones.
Those rigs look great but I’m not familiar with the use of the rigs please explain what and how to use setups

Great looking rigs Ben, how did you attach the wire to the split ring, just twist it.

No the wires I used had a loop. Just put the loop on the split ring

The Tokyo rig is basically a weedless drop shot. But instead of a dropper line on a drop shot, it’s a wire.
Same principle.
Intended to keep the lure up off the bottom a little bit.
You select the weight you want and slide it on the wire. Bend the wire to keep the weight on , then Texas rig your soft plastic lure and tmyiu are set
You can crawl it on bottom , fish wood, fish weeds , punch thru mats.
Seems pretty versatile

Ben nice job on your tokyo rigs. For you and others interested in this rig I am posting a video that I had come across quite a while ago. I hope this helps and explains some of the things this rig can do for you.
