Northern Pike de-population

As many of us well know , and , have experienced In North Idaho , first hand the Cutthroat trout extinction locally in the Couer D Alene watershed region for many years now . Northern pike planted by Idaho Fish n game dept. in the CDA watershed to
Eliminate the “Squawfish”population explosion and subsequent problem of feeding on Cutthroat trout eggs during spawn time ..
Therefore:
we need to create a solution , and convince the Idaho fish n game leadership to go forward with a plan of attack to remove the extremely predatory Pike “en Masse” that destroyed the “worlds best Cutthroat (CDA lake ) fish population ..... bring back the Cutthroat!!!
Secondly, finding a lake/watershed in the U.S. that has successfully implemented A viable Pike removal plan that worked!!! Idaho dept of Fish n Game might take great pkans into consideration ..

"introduced northern pike to mitigate squaw fish (pike minnow)" in Idaho ?
A little like the introduction of cobras to mitigate the rattlesnake population, if you ask me.....need to wean those "decision-makers" off whatever delusional drugs that they are on, imo !

Calif eradicates Pike in Lake Davis with a big bang.

Maybe drain the lake might work.

There is a state in this nation that has solved the pike "problem". The citizens discovered over time that pike are
vicious fighters and are barely second in flavor to walleye. The pike populations have been fished down to a point that the Minnesota Dept of Nat. Res. has instituted slot limits to increase the numbers of larger pike to naturally predate on smaller pike to keep populations in balance and offer better fishing experiences. I travel there each fall from WA to fish for pike with my family and we have had trouble finding a good pike lake to enjoy our favorite fish. Minn manages fisheries, not killing fisheries to cater to certain fishermen groups. They manage lakes for fish species that are best suited to the variable habitats of each lake. What a novel idea.

Well, harleypiker.... that's all well and good IF the pike are "native". The problem many waters have is they were INTRODUCED (by idiots, imo)..... "catering" to "certain fisherman groups" is certainly not the issue, survival of the historical species present IS.
You have correctly stated the goal in your last two sentences.... not really novel, at all..... just a different geographic area.
Alaska is mulling over the idea of a bounty on them, already have discounted guided fishing trips to target their removal.
We wouldn't be having this conundrum at all, if folks would be content with what is present, rather than trying to boost their egos and "ease their opportunities" with imports.

Folks will hate me for both acknowledging (supposed to be a clandestine operation) and embracing the practice of feeding the wildlife around Hyatt Lake EVERY DAMN 6"-12" LM BASS WE CATCH, by tossing the little bastards into the forest when we leave, sometimes more than a few ! Hyatt used to be a stellar high mountain lake to catch big rainbows....all the babies are gobbled up by LMB, to the point where ODFW no longer can stock anything less than 8" 'bows. Otherwise they're just feeding the damn bass.... just wasteful.
THERE WERE NO BASS AT ALL UNTIL SOME IDIOT PLANTED A "MOMMA"..... from Cali ! (confirmed by an ODFW investigation...using OUR $$ !) That was almost exactly the same time period (~20-25yrs ago) another idiot put yellow perch in Emigrant Lake....and the crappie population dwindled to nearly zero. Tui chub, introduced as bait, resulted in Lake of the Woods (arguably Oregon's "best trout lake") being Rotenone'd a decade or so ago.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE.... Get in your vehicle and DRIVE to the place that HAS the species you wish to target.....quit playing the self-annointed and highly stupid "stocker gods"...it NEVER turns out well.
And.....God help you, if you get caught doing so....We won't be forgiving, in the least.... might be your LAST DEED, EVER ! My disgust and passion on this subject is widespread, and not just by fisherpersons !

End of rant... sorry it had to be said....moving on.....
