Hi guys, I need y'all's opinions on something. I had an old casting rod and reel that my buddy gave me. It was a shakespeare, so I'm assuming it wasn't of the best quality. I loved the way the rod felt and the reel was decent.
The rod recently snapped in half, but the reel is still good. So here's the question: I wanted to pick up an inexpensive rod to throw that old reel on to have for a beater, backup, truck rod, etc. What would y'all's recommendations be on a rod (preferrably 6'6 or under) for under 40 bucks?
I found a daiwa rod at academy for 29.99 that feels pretty good, I just wanted to consult the oracle to see if anybody had anything they liked. I may also wait and buy a higher quality rod and put that reel on there until I can get a better quality reel. But I'm looking for suggestions on cheap rods.

For $30, if you like it just buy it. What do you really have to lose?

Cheap and Ugly Stik go hand in hand. I’ve never had an issue with anyone I’ve bought.
