With the Vaccine slowly becoming available, I doubt the Canada border will be open in time for us for the 2nd year.
Can anyone recommend a place we could rent for a week with a cabin, boats, and motors? We have been fishing Canada for over 40 years, catching Trout, Walleye, and Northern trolling and casting. We've fished Michigan, Wisconsin, & Minnesota several times with only limited success. Other than the Rainy Lake system, is there any other area in North or South Dakota, Montana, Wyoming we could try? We want to do our own thing. (Not interested in catching a ton of fish for 6 hours of fishing with a guide @ $600 for one day. Like at Lake St. Clair, Lake Erie, & Green Bay) Would appreciate your help and suggestions.

OJdidit Loc: Oak Creek Wisconsin

The two main reservoirs on the Missouri River are Oahe in SD and Sakakawea in ND. Lots of outstanding fishing there. Worth checking out, for sure.

Hey R, depending on where you actually live, it might be worth your while to look into the Bull Shoals, White River area in Arkansas, There are many resorts in Bull Shoals area or camping areas available with most of the resorts offering boat rentals or guides at very reasonable prices. If interested I would suggest looking at bullshoalslakeboatdock.com.
The Eastwald family has owned and operated this facility since 1971. The marina is well maintained and they also have Lighthouse resort there for rent also. Something for you to look into.
Great LM and SM bass, walleye, crappie, striper, and catfish, in the lake and many varieties of trout in the tailwaters below the dam and if you are into scuba diving they also have certified air and at certain times of the year it is legal to spear fish multiple species.

Billswest Loc: Eagle, Idaho

I have reservations for June to fish with an outfitter based out of Kenora, Ontario. Just heard from him yesterday. Said his sources are telling him that the border will be re-opened in late-March, April. I'm hoping that's true since our trip was supposed to come off last June and never did. I've got to think it's likely to be open, too, because all the outfitters and related businesses really can't afford to face another season of lost business from the Yankee side of the border. We'll see, I guess. You received some good advice already from others Lake Oahu in South Dakota, Sakakawea in ND, and Flaming Gorge Res. in Wyoming, Lake Powell in Southern Utah/Nev all are good choices for the do-it yourself. Tons of other places to, too many to list. Start with the F&G offices in the states you're interested in. They're always more than happy to steer folks to good waters; they like to brig in those NR license dollars. Good luck with your search..........

I'd be shocked, but very pleased if Trudeau opened the border by April with only a fraction of the population getting the Vaccination. Might be a bit of wishful thinking. I know there's places to fish, but none in the US to compare with the solitude of the outpost camps we've been going to in Ontario and Manitoba for over 40 years. Our lake is 5 X 8 miles and only the 4 of us on the lake. Northern, Walleye, and Lake Trout.
