So bc its winter im gearing up for spring, i have the basics; jigs, spoons, crankbaits, bobbers, hooks, and topwater frogs. Now im somewhere where there are bigger toothier fish like pike and musky, so heres the question, is the wopper plopper worth the $9-12 investment? It seems to me like an easy cast and retreive bait but i cant help but feel im buying the gimmick not the results like other, well established, baits.

I have caught some nice SM and LM bass on the one Whopper Plopper I own. I would wait for a sale as the prices will get better. Stores are starting to stock the shelves again as the shipments are coming in.

By now the Plopper has moved into the "established" category. The Plopper has its place, along with the other styles of topwater lures. I think Berkeley makes a knockoff.

I have two. Use them occasionally, especially in heavy underwater wood potential hangups, never caught a pike or muskie on one. I'm sure they would work fine on a major bite.

Never paid $2-3 for one, a tad more, but THEY WORK. Favorites have been bone and white. Good luck

If you do much top water casting, you must have a couple but remember that you have to retrieve faster to make the Plopper work properly.

New guy here. I have several and like them. Like any other lure it has its time and place. I prefer the smaller version in whatever color matches the food source.

I have the musky version. Never caught one on it but I had a follow.
Haven’t tried the bass version yet.

One wopper plopper around$12. Got lucky when local gander mountain when out of business. Picked up Berkley chopos for $3 to$5 depending on sz. They cast nice and don't take effort to get them churning. I use 8.1 baitcaster for both

You can either pay for the u.s.made ones that go up to 12 each or a chinese knockoff for 2 to 3 bucks per.
