Question about Crankbait rods compared to Casting rods.

Say I was looking at a the dobyns fury crankbait rod that is labeled as a MH MF. Is that any different than a normal casting rod that is labeled a MH MF? Are crankbait rods made different than casting rods with the same power and action ratings. This also assuming they're both made of the same material

It goes back and forth on what is a crankbait rod.
Some say fiberglass is the way to go
Another school of thought centers around taper such as the MF you mention
I’m no expert but I much prefer a graphite MF taper.
Reel drag setting has as much to do with keeping a fish pinned on a crankbait as does the absorption action of the rod in my opinion
Personally, I prefer loomis MBR action for my crankbait work. It’s a more moderate taper that loads up further from the tip than a typical fast or extra fast action rod. More of a “parabolic” action or gradual taper.
It seems to keep just the right amount of pressure on a hooked fish.
I’ve tried crankbait specific glass rods and just can’t adapt to the weight , balance and feel .

Definitely prefer the graphite crankbait rod to a glass. I use a 7-6 MH Crankbait rod and am not exhausted on days you're using it extensively

Don't quite understand the weight issues, my 6'10" Mojo Glass crankbait rod weighs 5oz. Feels light to me.

the initials stand for action and weight of the rods capabilities from my understanding, but then again im not much of an expert as some of our more knowledgable members here

Phil, some people think fiberglass rods are heavier, and therefore more tiring than graphite rods. That may have been true in the past, but modern ones are much lighter. Especially higher quality ones.
