I’m not going to be casting into anything super thick but I’ll be casting around at banks and into light wood. I have a black 50lb braid main line and idk what length of 20lb flouro to use for my leader.

(Bass fishing during early prespawn for context)

Maybe I'm ignorant, but isn't 50lb braid ridiculously overkill for bass?

Maybe but, The 50lb strength isn’t for the fish, Its for if I’m fishing in thick cover and pulling fish out of thick cover (and whatever cover comes out with the fish) You gotta have thick line that won’t stretch so you can get the hook through the weed guard when you set the hook.

I normally use around 3 feet for mine. You don’t need a really long leader for that stuff.

What good is the 50lb going to be if you use a 20lb leader? Don't fish much do you?
