My daughter is planning a Lake Erie walleye fishing tip in July for my birthday. We have very basic gear for pan fish and small bass. Any suggestions or rod and reel combos that would work for this trip that we could also use for larger bass, crappie, and possibly pike fishing? or are they much different setups?
I would reccomend a medium heavy spinning rod 7 ft length and a 2500 series reel
July on Erie is kinda up in the air what techniques you will be using. This set up will give you some versatility.
If I were to take only one rod on this trip from my collection it would be my Loomis GLX 853 JWR and a shimano sustain 2500
You don’t have to match this of course. Pick your budget and find similar specifications.

Welcome to the Forum, Ken, Good Luck
Like Ben says depends on how you're going to be fishing. If U have rod and reels that you used to catch bass there's no reason why you can't use those to catch walleye. Are you shore fishing or fishing from a boat? O welcome to the stage Ken. YouTube is your friend😁
shore or Kayak currently but this trip will be an off shore charter.
I use medium action spinning rods, preferably 6'6'' length but anywhere from 6 to 7 foot works. However if you will be trolling, the captain will supply everything needed. Good luck on your trip, fishing should be very hot up there this year. What part of Erie will you be fishing?

Welcome aboard Ken! If your going out on a Charter, you probably will not need to bring any gear. Should be provided on board.

Should be, but you had better check for sure.

Ken,
Where about on the lake are you going? Western basin is where the highest percentage of the walleye are caught and where the most party and charter boats are. But I live in the Central basin and grew up on the eastern basin and we have always caught walleye. As long as the captain knows where they are at. I know a couple good ones of you need a recommendation PM me.
