I can’t express enough the great satisfaction I have received when I introduced my three children to fishing. Many great times were had and I still enjoy fishing with my adult children, 2 sons and a daughter. Now I have the experiences of teaching my grandchildren. It is a sport, hobby, pastime they all can enjoy for years to come. Therefore, my reason for this post. I am so proud of my oldest son, a teacher, who has started a high school ice fishing team and also teaches several fishing classes during the school year to his students. My son takes many students fishing on a nearby lake as a part of their studies. Fishing will pay dividends in the years to come to so many. Tight lines everyone!!!

I am from Boscobel, WI which is located on the Wisconsin River. Fishing and hunting have always been a passion of mine. All of my children fish and hunt. I always promoted fishing and hunting to the youth since we have a trout stream that runs through our city and hundreds of acres of public hunting land close by. I retired two years ago from a 32 year career in law enforcement. Keeping a child’s time occupied and interested with the outdoors will hopefully prevent them from making poor decisions.

Thank you for your service, did you know Vic Christian? He was from Boscobel, and came to Caledonia, MN. in about 1970. He may have left Boscobel, before you emerged.

Thank you so much Lurehappylou. I really enjoyed reading your post and the pictures. My three sons loved going fishing with me when they were kids and my granddaughter used to like fishing in nail she discovered boys.

Great story Lou, and thanks for your service. If more people raised their families like you have, the country would benefit immensely, and your former career probably would have been a little easier. Congratulations on a fine job! Tight Lines to you as well!
Almost forgot, thanks for the great pictures!

I guess I missed your law enforcement career Lou. Thanks so much for your service. Congrats on the retirement. More time with the family.

Several years ago, I was chairing a committee of my Rotrary club and we decided to take all the kids who were residents of an orphans home to a ranch for a field day. There was a lot of activities, horse back riding, hay ride, and a pond for fishing. i volunteeered to handle the fishing.

Not knowing what tackle they would have, I went and bought 5 small rod and reels to be sure anyone who wanted to fish could. There were several who did come and try their hands at fishing and this pond had some small catfish which were ideal for our purposes.

One little guy, maybe three, whose name was Sam wanted to fish so I baited him up, cast it out for him and then told him what to do if he got a bite. Well he did, i told hm to jerk the rod back and start reeling. Well, Sam got so excited he instead of reeling, started running back, and yelling, Its Sam's, its Sam's on and on. He pulled out a bour 2 pound catfish. Instead of reeling, Sam starts running back, yelling, its Sams, its Sams, its Sams! His mother aid he couldnt quit talking about catching his first fish. Just Sayin...RJS~

Welcome lurehappylou.
I absolutely had to take a screenshot of the first pic, just in case I ever run into my ex-wife, the mother of my now 39yr old daughter. Why? Because when I made a "neck lanyard" for my daughter's "Binky", as the young one in the pic has, she thought that it was "highly unsafe, she might strangle herself if it caught on something, ONLY YOU would think of doing something that stupid !"
I replied that I was tired of washing it off 5-10 times an hour and if she doesn't have the lanyard and keeps spitting it out or merely losing interest, and it falls to the ground, I'm gonna just brush it off and stick it back in her mouth........ condescension isn't/wasn't my ex's strong suit, but it prevailed that evening..... & the lanyard with a Binky on it was "Amy's necklace" for awhile, till we hid it for good.

Thanks Lou, for giving credence to what I thought was a fine solution then and still do.

Fix....my man, 39 years! Let it go brother, let it go! Take three deep breaths, close your eyes and hold it as long as you can. Let it out slowly along with every little resentment you have towards the ex. Take in a breath of new air, open yours to a brand new world!
