As strange as it may seem, I have been living with either a false name or a pseudonym for these 86 years. Let me explain. When I was born it was out in the country and the doctor went back to town which was not in our county and registered my name in the proper county. But he made an error by assuming because my father signed his name Robert J. Samples, that my name would be Robert Joe Samples, Jr.
Well, he assumed incorrectly. My fathers name was not Robert Joe Samples, but rather it was Robert Jewel Samples! Now it was 1963 when I received a copy of my father’s death certificate did I learn his real middle name.
Now, I have degrees, commissions, and a lot of stuff with my name appearing as Robert Joe Samples, Jr. which is incorrect. I should be either Robert Jewel Samples, Jr. or Robert Joe Samples!
I solicit your v**e. Since I have no other august body to present my case, would you change your name, or leave it. J am not ashamed to be Robert Jewel. Remember, I had stopped using Jr. since 1963 it was legal, but incorrect. Just Sayin…RJS

Since you haven't used Jr since 1963, leave it alone. Just keep on using Joe as your middle name.

We must first ascertain whether this is a TRUE story, or just one of your many fictional experiences. LOL. If it’s true, I would leave your name as is, unless there is a legal problem with doing that. Up to you .......
Just don't be having folks call you Junior. And let me ask you this - what name do you want on you want on your gravestone? My dad went by George for most of his adult life. That's what he answered to and that's what my mom called him. That wasn't his name. His dad's name was George Washington Humphries, but when he was born (why? no idea) the name on the certificate was G W Humphries. Talk about Catch-22, he went into the Navy and his dogtags read Wonly Gonly Humphries. His brothers and sisters (12 strong) all called him G-dub. What's in a name? That which we call a fart by any other name would smell as foul.

Leave it as is Robert. As soon as you change it the IRS will be looking for back taxes. 😁😁😁
You should have saved this for tomorrow morning, it could have been our laugh of the day. BTW I'd leave it alone. After all these years, no one would know who you are.

Happy Tuesday Bob,
As you know, I am a Jr. and proud of it.
We named our son Garrett III to honor his grandfather whom he loved dearly, they had a bond.
When our son announced that they were having a baby we were overjoyed and hoped for a G the IV.
Our son carried on the tradition with Garrett IV, who at 10 years old is proud of his name and heritage.
So, I would suggest that you use Jewel as an honor to your father. He will be smiling down on you whether you change yours to Jewel or leave it as you always knew him as Joe.
Bless all that proudly carry on their heritage and traditions.

Garry: No, I never knew my dad as Joe! He was known alternatively as Robert, Rob, or Robin. As a kid I was know as Bobby Joe, Bobbie, or Little Robin. Only when I was grown did I insist on being called Bob. it was a total shock for me to find Dad's middle name to be Jewel and I believe he hid it because he was embarrasee by it. he should not have been, but that is beside the point. Randy: I am really surprised, and flattered that you are fooled by the difference in my fact or fiction. I am dead serious. i am not trying to give you a head or eye f**e. This is a true story, and one that i was totally shocked when i received my father's death certificate. Thanks for your advice. Yes, i am aware of the legal ramifications and if most of the Forum suggested a change, i would then "peel the onion" of what the legal costs would be.

You should just change it to Just Saying. Maybe change First name to JUST. Middle SAYING. Last AGAIN.
That would be cool buddy. So when you go to DR Appt. The lady asks what is your name?
You say " Just Saying Again"
I am figuring you would get quite a look from everyone in the Waiting room. But why not change your name to something that would get everyone laughing? Laughter is very healthy. It releases Endorphins and they are very good for you. The scent of coffee does it too. Drinking coffee has other effects but the smell of it is also healthy.

RJS, at your age I don't think you want the hassle of changing anything but your shorts, just saying.
