I've always loved and laughed at this poem
hope you will too
Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.
Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!
He took his vorpal sword in hand;
Long time the manxome foe he sought
So rested he by the Tumtum tree
And stood awhile in thought.
And, as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!
One, two! One, two! And through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.
âAnd hast thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!
He chortled in his joy.
Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

Where did you find this one?
It's a classic!
We had to memorize that poem in the 8th grade. That was 1968.
Every once in a while it pops into my head (I still remember it, obviously), I recite it to myself (or out loud) and then it takes a few days to get it out of my head!
One of my favorites. The Jabberwock comes in many forms, especially on moonless nights.

Listened to the Donovan version, thinking maybe I will get the gist of this......all it did was confirm that I absolutely hate songs where you can't tell what the hell is being said...... re-reading the poem did NOT help.
Celtic ? Colloquial Brogue ?
Like trying to read a sci-fi story where the author thinks he's clever by giving his characters names that have no phonetic pronunciation....in any language.

I graduated high school in 1968.even in the 60s I don’t remember anything like this!
The longer term memory items are locked in. It's the short term - what I just had for breakfast, and where did I put my car key - that is the problem. Or, when I walk into a room, I end up asking, "what was I going to do in here"?
