How are all you great fishermen doing during this pandemic? I am thinking about purchasing a terrova trolling motor for my Sylvan 1800 expedition sport. The reviews I been reading are all good and I would like the spot lock. One concern I have is how it would drain my batteries. Any recommendations? Thanks and tight lines, also stay safe.

36 VDC configuration with Lithium Batteries will be probably your best bet if can afford it. You can utilize Solar or plug it in on shore or at home. The charge controller will do all the work.

I have been on Eggheads boat and the set up you mentioned is really neat. Auto Deploy and Spot Lock is worth it. You want to be stopped or under 2 mph when deploy it.

well, once again, only the best and most expensive seems to work properly and as intended. Everyone else is left struggling and trying to reach the that ultimate level. Just Sayin...RJS

I must agree. Invest in what you want. Fun is usually expensive. Reliable and SAFE should always be any Boat Captains First Priority. If I could only have one perfectly dressed out boat and the rest of all these worldly possessions had to be hawked or sold to achieve that I would most definitely have a good boat to share with all my Fishingstage buddies and family. I would not charge anyone to board my vessel a few times and provide everything. After 4 free fishing excursions with nothing offered by Friends Family or Fishingstage buddies I would begin delegating needed supplies and food for their fifth Fishing Excursion.

Captain of any Motorized Vessel is Responsible for everyone's SAFETY and legally obligated to do the right thing.

The most important thing needs to be Boaters Safety when operating a vessel in any and all water.

The Terrova is a manual deploy. So no battery drain there. A 24 volt system with some good AGM batteries 27group size will last for a couple 10 hr days just using spot lock. If your constantly trolling about a 14 hr day. Get a good 15 amp minn kota charger and you'll be ok. The Minn Kota Ulterra has auto deploy. And uses more battery. And comes with a learning curve. Respect it or fix it.lol.

I got the 80lb 24 volt, four hours of use and it still shows three quarters on the battery minder. I have two group 31 batteries, which I'm sure hold a fair amount more juice than group 27 batteries. Home Depot, $250 for the pair, keep them charged with a good charger and they should easily last for a full day. If these don't last well for two or three years I will get better batteries, but if they work well it depends on how much more power you need. I have a Honda 2000w generator to charge for a few hours at a time when camping for a few days.

I am unbelievably impressed by this trolling motor, it's a game changer in terms of setting auto pilot or spot lock and fishing without worrying about steering.

i've got the Ultira, self deploy with many of the same features I love it. spot lock and back track are great. The self deploy is also great but does drain the battery on a 6 to 8 hour day but at the ramp putting is is a breeze, for me they're great.

I run a Ultrex 112 lbs. 36V all day on 3 group 31 batteries. But if money is not a issue Lithium is the way to go. I’m hoping to be going that way this year. You get to use your charge until it’s drained with no issues.

I have a 55 lb thrust Terrova (12 volt system) on Tracker 175TXW that I use for bass fishing. I have no problems with 1 dedicated battery to fish all day.
