Here is what Jeff Foxworthy has to say about folks from Texas...

If someone in a Lowe's store offers you assistance and HE doesn't work there, you may live in Texas;

If you've worn shorts and a parka at the same time, you may live in Texas;

If you've had a lengthy telephone conversation with someone who dialed a wrong number, you may live in Texas;

If 'Vacation' means going anywhere south of Dallas for the weekend, you may live in Texas;

If you measure distance in hours, you may live in Texas;

If you know several people who have hit a deer more than once, you may live in Texas;

If you install security lights on your house and garage, but leave both unlocked, you may live in Texas;

If you carry jumper cables in your car and your wife knows how to use them, you may live in Texas;

If the speed limit on the highway is 55 mph --you're going 80 and everybody's passing you, you may live in Texas;

If you find 60 degrees 'a little chilly, you may live in Texas;

If you actually understand these jokes, and share them with all your Texas friends, you definitely live in Texas.

Here is what Jeff Foxworthy has to say about folks from Texas...

If someone in a Lowe's store offers you assistance and HE doesn't work there, you may live in Texas;

If you've worn shorts and a parka at the same time, you may live in Texas;

If you've had a lengthy telephone conversation with someone who dialed a wrong number, you may live in Texas;

If 'Vacation' means going anywhere south of Dallas for the weekend, you may live in Texas;

If you measure distance in hours, you may live in Texas;

If you know several people who have hit a deer more than once, you may live in Texas;

If you install security lights on your house and garage, but leave both unlocked, you may live in Texas;

If you carry jumper cables in your car and your wife knows how to use them, you may live in Texas;

If the speed limit on the highway is 55 mph --you're going 80 and everybody's passing you, you may live in Texas;

If you find 60 degrees 'a little chilly, you may live in Texas;

If you actually understand these jokes, and share them with all your Texas friends, you definitely live in Texas.

You're welcome, Plum. As BB doesn't seem to ever brag on our home state, I felt it was up to me.

"This is a must read for all Texans, used-to-be Texans, adopted Texans or wanna-be Texans:"
Well, I read that and just moved on to the next post.

I lied.

3. El Paso is closer to California than to Dallas.

Used to drive from San Diego to Dallas to visit the MIL and would issue a huge sigh when we reached El Paso because I knew I wan't even half way there. And a huge whoop! once we passed it cause we were finally in New Mexico.

Well, fellows, quoting some one who was a famous writer, it takes too long to write a short story!

I have to work on my topic sorta like when a dog gets ready to lie down. It circles and circles, and this is supposed to have been a hereditary trait to get the grass all smooted out and tamped down for its bed! My stories are much like that in that I must circle the topic a few times before finishing. So, feel free to edit any story of mine to suit your needs. Just Sayin.RJS

Your right I missed it. Al was one of those characters, "Bigger than Life". LOL My first morning on ship I got up from the bottom buck and saw on the top bunk a pair of cowboy boots with a western shrit and slacks with a stetson over his face. Dusty, as I later learned, come up and shook him, "Wake up Al!"
Al took his hat off his face and looked down at his boots. "Oh NO! I did it again, both my sets of blues are in the locker off base! How am I going to get them?"
Dusty laughed and told him to give him his locker key off base and he would get them.
It was almost impossible to stay mad at Al. All the reunion requests ask about him before anyone else.
