Hi everyone, just wondering if anyone has any experience fishing this river. I was wondering about access, or anything else that might be important info (local fly’s, kayak vs wading...)The wife and I are headed there in Late June to do some fly fishing. I know the upper section is trout water and the lower is warm water species. We’re planning on fishing both. We’re going to visit local fly shops for advice but tips would be great!

Welcome to the Forum, Burgie. Sorry, I can't help you with your question, but I was wondering where in N.E. Iowa you are from, I'm from Caledonia, MN. and I was wondering if we were close.

Hey flyguy, yes, I’m pretty close. I’ve lived in Decorah IA most of my life. My dad’s side is from Caledonia (last name is Burg as you probably guessed). I just started fly fishing August of last summer and I’m obsessed! Fished spincast gear since I was young but I never would have guessed how fly fishing changed the entire game for me. Great to know your in the area!
