I've never fished it. Right across the freeway (80) is Lake Valley. I used to go there a lot. Very nice, easy access, and in the spring and fall, hardly anyone there. And no boats. Kayaks and tubes.

I think it is presently closed for the winter.
Drove there once, there is some bam\nk access, but that is all i know

Fish and Game kind of ignore Lake Spaulding. Very seldom gets any kind of fish plants. Don't know why

I fished Lake Valley many times over the years and loved it. but about 6 or 7 yrs ago the kayakers started going there and ruined it for all. Example. One after noon i finished fishing and started back to ramp and a suv backed down with kayak on top. 45 minutes later and they were still preparing for ??Finally a bank fisherman went over to them and told them to get that suv up ramp and out of road. Next year i had similar experience. Backed car down and then went thru nearly an hour before they pulled car back up. That time i did leave note on their car explaining to them that there was more than one boat that was going in or out of lake and explained what i thought of them
